The Prettiest Cholita in La Paz

The Prettiest Cholita in La Paz

Vacation Countdown Alarm Clock

Beatuty Cholita

Walking aimlessly about town one sunny weekend afternoon, we happened upon a pageant called Miss Cholita Paceña 2011, just as the winner was being announced. With a grin larger than her hat, she danced about the stage, gladly receiving accolades from the crowd. We thought it was a good introduction to this random picture post, which includes a lot of other lovely things from La Paz… a soccer field with a gorgeous mountain view… the Illimani… and two Boxer dogs, handsome from the front and behind!

Felicidades!!

Love your photos!  What time of year were they taken?  I am a professional photographer planning a trip and would love to have similiar weather that you encountered.  Best, AJC

Thank you for the compliment – I recommend visit Boivia in their winter. Then you get clear, dry and sunny days. If you go in their summers it’s rainy season and you won’t get skies like that.

You probably have to wait for a year… we arrived in Mai which is the start of the dry season….

Actually it’s pretty nice right now! It was raining all Februrary but now its all sun. If you come in June/July is awfully cold, especailly at night. La Paz gets to -4 C at night! Santa Cruz is always pretty warm, as is Cochabamba. If you get a chance, come in Februray to see Carnaval in Oruro. Another good month is August. As August 6 is Bolivia’s independece day, there are many parades and festivals. Good luck with your desicion!
